Africa
Amari never knew Africa outside of her village, but she was happy where she lived, all of her friends and family lived there. Her villages name was Ziavi, and she thought it was the most wonderful place in the world. Amari never thought to travel outside her village because she had everything she needed right there. In her village her father was the story teller, everyone loved his story's, especially Amari. Before she was captured she was going to marry Besa, the love of her life. Before she had been captured Amari never knew how big the world was, before her village was her world. She discovered that that there were big city's such as Charleston that are so much bigger then her little village. I am not saying that slavey was right, it wasn't, but in a way it is good Amari got to see other places in the world. It would have been great if she could have vacationed there, then she would have been able to admire the beauty of the places she went, but unfortunately it is hard to enjoy the beauty of something when you are being held there against your will. At the time Amari didn't know that slavery like that existed. She had some slaves in her village; you could win a slave, but then they became part of your family. What happened to Amari was defiantly not like that, she did not become part of Mr. Derby's family. When Amari was first captured she thought that it was only her village that this was happening to. Thousands of other African tribes would be captured or killed by the time slavery was over. She didn't know that over four million innocent people would have gone through the same thing she went through.
