Clay Derby was a rich young boy. His father owned a slave plantation and was very wealthy. They lived in a large house with his father and his step mother. His real mother died when he was 3 of fever. Clay wanted attention, just as every boy wanted. But his father was too busy with the slaves or his wife to pay any attention to him. Clay Derby had a pretty good childhood though, he basically got whatever he wanted. He could eat anything he wanted, he got to boss around the slaves and he could have any toy he wanted. He loved his life.
Clay was fifteen now, about to turn sixteen. His father brought him back a surprise, his very own slave. He named her Myna because he was hers. At dawn he would send his servant to get Myna. He would rape her and talk to her. He thought that Myna enjoyed coming to see him but really, she hated it. He would send her back to her cottage and then he would continue sleeping. When he woke up, he ate breakfast and then went and talked to his father. He would do as his father says and then relax for a few hours. Then he would eat lunch. After lunch, he would go to the city to buy food for his family. Clay enjoyed going to the city. When he got back, he would eat dinner and check on the slaves. Then he would go to bed. His day changed everyday but that is just an overview of what happened.
One day Clay heard news that his fathers baby was a black baby. This was bad. His father was furious and wanted to find the person his wife had his baby with. So Clay did what he needed to do. He found the baby and the slave who his step mother had made a baby with, Noah. His father shot both the baby and Noah right on the spot and was going to sell Myna, Polly and Tidbit. Clay was supposed to go with them but in the morning he felt ill and could not go with the doctor. The doctor took the slaves and was supposed to sell them but they escaped. The next day Clay and his father heard the news. Clays father felt ill and died of an unknown disease. Clay was now the owner of the slaves. He went to the south looking for Myna, Polly and Tidbit. He found them surprisingly.
Clay tried to grab them and bring them back to the farm but Polly shot at him and then they tied him to a tree. They started to run away when a rattlesnake came up to him. He slithered around him for a little bit and finally bit him. Clay suffered a slow, painful death. Finally his heart stopped beating and he died right there, tied to the tree.
